Car Care Guide -> Choose the Cleaning Method According to How Dirty the Car Is

Usually, no solvent cleaner is even necessary to remove the grime from a well-waxed, regularly-washed surface. Careful rinsing and drying guarantee good results.

Solvent Cleaning for Dirty Cars

When the car is very dirty, start the washing with a solvent cleaner, such as a highly-efficient cleaning agent like Korrek Powerwash. They rid the car's surface of stains from grease, oil, salt, bitumen and other substances.

Procedure: Wash the car one small area at a time and then rinse with water. Thorough rinsing prevents streaks from forming. Do not wet the surface beforehand, just apply the cleaning agent to the dry surface from bottom to top, give it a few moments to take effect, then rinse with warm water using the strongest possible water pressure. For very dirty areas (hubcaps, for example) you can make the solvent more effective by using a brush or sponge.

Important: Washing results will worsen if the cleaning agent is allowed to dry before rinsing.

When? Solvent cleaning is usually necessary only when grime has become attached to the car's surface. Excessively frequent solvent cleaning will weaken the car's paintwork.

From Top to Bottom

For a regular wash, it is best to start from the top and work your way to the bottom, thus avoiding transferring difficult, abrasive dirt to the more visible parts of the car.

Shampoo Wash for Normal Dirt

If the car is not very dirty, wash it with a car shampoo such as Korrek Carwash car shampoo, Korrek Waxwash or Korrek Wash & Wax solvent cleaning wax. The Korrek Sponge, which contains wax and shampoo, is convenient and disposable.

Procedure: Car washing begins with solvent cleaning or rinsing away loose grime. Dilute the detergent with warm water according to the dosage instructions.

Wash the car in a systematic fashion; first the horizontal surfaces, such as the roof, bonnet, and boot, then the sides, and finally the tyres and hubcaps.

Important: When washing, be sure to use plenty of rinsing water. Unattractive blotching will result if detergent is allowed to dry on the car's surface. After washing, dry the car with Korrek Wipex car clot.

REMEMBER to wash the under-surfaces of doors and doorframes.

Note!

Always apply the solvent cleaner to a dry surface.

Leftover Drops of Water Burn!

Always dry the car after washing. Drops of water act as magnifying glasses and may burn streaks into the paint. The best material for drying the car is a genuine natural chamois such as Korrek Chamois.
